Local Search Engine Optimisation For an Essex based Plumbing Business
I’m just going to go over some of the work that we’ve been doing for a local business that has resulted in them getting over 360 leads in the last 90 day period.

A brief explanation of a google business listing, sometimes referred to the 3-pack.
If you were to go to Google and search for a local service Google would return a set of results that includes, towards the top of the page, a map with three local businesses listed underneath.
And by clicking on ‘View All’ you’re taken to a map that shows the remainder of businesses in your local area.
And by way of an example, if I were to search for an electrician near me here’s what I’m presented with.
Now it’s worth saying at this point that around 93% of people will never go past the first page of search results so you can see the power of having your business appear on the first page of Google’s search results.
And that’s true of these three businesses that appear in the 3-pack. You can bet your life that they’re getting calls from prospective customers or clients.
This next image I’m going to show you is a local map with a grid overlay. The numbers in the grid marks are an indication of where this business appears in the results when somebody in that location searches for their service.
Anything green with a number 1 through 3 indicates that they’re appearing in the 3 pack on the first page of Google.
Now contrast that with this image which was taken after we’d worked with the business for a number of months.
You can see immediately that the business in now appearing on the first page of Google across a much wider area and this is for one of their main search terms.
And finally I wanted to show you how this translates into an increased number of leads for this business.
These are the stats from their Google My Business account. Over a 90 day period this business has received 180 leads via the phone, averaging two a day, and 185 visits to their website, some of which would have converted into additional business.
This is a great example of the sorts of returns that you can get from investing a little money into your digital marketing.
